I have an L59 on my 130 and have it running but I"m not sure it"s right. The rotation is correct, but the twists don"t look right. I have read the manual and looked. My center brace pulleys are bot v-type and to get the rotation direction correct I have to route like this:

viewing from rear off of left pulley on center bar, up to the front of the pulley back down the back of drive pulley to the right pulley on the center post back to the deck.

Howe do you get a 3/4 twist off of the center pulley (on the deck ) hit the left pulley on the post and up to the drive pulley with a 3/4 twist?

I have a L59 on a kubota so it may be different, but the twist looked strange on mine too, but has worked fine. I did have a problem with belt rolling over on the back, but that was due to worn out bearings and pulleys, new pulleys and bearings solved that. Ate 2 belts before I found it though and they are pricey at $80 each and looked like they sat on the shelf since 1978! Apparently they are "woods only" belt for kubota. Check those pulleys! If they have been wearing in the bottom of the grove replace them now and if the belt rolls over once it will be junk even if you put it back on right!

Chad: One of you idler pullies must be a flat pulley as it contacts back side of the belt. It will be the one with belt going to the drive pulley. At least that is how any I've seen operate.

I don't have the 59 but you can still get the manual from Woods. Handy to have. I photo copied the belt page, laminated it and keep in the the shed where I store my mower.

Here is from my Woods L59 manual. This is viewed from rear of tractor.

First, put belt on bottom grove RH side of center pulley on mower deck. Then go around left hand sheave of deck, back across center groove of center pulley to the RH deck pulley and back to the top groove of center pulley. Then from center pulley to front idler pulley with 3/4 twist and then a 1/2 twist between the idler pulley and the drive pulley on the tractor. Then straight down under rear idler pulley, This should leave a 1/4 twist from rear idler pulley to the bottom groove of the center deck pulley. When tightening things up, the front idler should be about 1 inch above the groove in the center pulley and the rear about 1 inch below it's groove in the center deck pulley. This is not word for word from the manual, as I have just given the essentials.

Hugh, my Woods L59 has no flat pulleys on it, and the belt runs right side up on all the pulleys. This is on my IH 140 tractor and the setup would be the same on the 130.

Haas: My mower is an RM59 on a Super A, there are two L59 mowers near me on offset tractors, and in both cases they have one V idler and one flat idler. Same as mine except the flat idler is on the opposite side and those mowers are belted backwards compared to mine. All three mowers are driven by the belt pulley gear box.

I've seen two V idlers used when mower is driven by PTO shaft.

I've never seen one with the flat pulleys like that. Mine runs off the belt pulley shaft, not the PTO and has two "V" idler pulleys. It is an L59 mower.

Hugh you are correct as the one idler should be smooth but they sure made some with the v-groove.
