"This is better than the stuff from the store. And it's quick. I got this recipe from my sister-in-law, who makes all kinds of wonderful homemade things."

  1. My husband is a big fan of Western dressing and it is not easy to locate in our area. Sometimes I can find creamy French to use as a substitute for him but we were nearly out of that. I had seen this recipe before & meant to try it, so today I did...using eggless mayo, (Just Mayo - which I get at Walmart,) as he has an egg allergy. Only made 1/2 the recipe. It turned out great. He is VERY happy with this dressing so I will be making it regularly. Gotta admit, I tried it & was rather pleased with it myself. Thank you so much.

  2. Although I did substitute safflower oil for the canola oil and Splenda for the sugar, this is really an excellent recipe! I absolutely loved it. I used Grey Poupon mustard, as that was what I had on hand. I think French's would have probably been better (closer to the stuff from the "Good Old Days") but it worked out well. I think I'll probably use Dijon mustard in the future, as it is a tad bit less tangy. It's a matter of taste whether you like tangy or not-so, but this recipe really brought back memories of great salads back in the day. Good job!! I put this in my FAVORITES file folder.

  3. Had to find a recipe when we found out that mercury was showing up in the corn syrup used in my DD's favorite salad dressing. Guess who has a new favorite? This is AMAZING. I used olive oil as that's all I had and feared that would overwhelm the taste, but my family still loves it. Thanks for keeping my DD eating her greens!

  4. I loved this and wow, it made a lot of dressing! Next time I will cut back on the sugar a bit as I found it a bit on the sweet side (I never thought I'd find anything too sweet for me!). Perfect on a salad with some cashews on top!

  5. Good recipe, I love western dressing and they no longer carry this at any local grocery stores. This saves me lots of extra miles that I don't have to put on my car to find this dressing :).

I'm a stay at home mom with 3 adorable children-an 8 year old daredevil son, a 5 1/2 year old princess and a wild little 2 year old girl! I love to cook, and like having my little helpers in the kitchen! I usually love recipes that are completely from scratch (I still love them actually) but right now my focus is on having any kind of food ready by mealtime! It's a little crazy here lately. Every summer we have a huge organic garden, apple orchard and raspberry and blueberry patches, along with a woods full of wild foods waiting for me to learn what they are so I can collect them. I'm learning about wild mushrooms first, so if anyone has any tips, let me know. We also eat wild venison which my husband and I hunt ourselves. It's our favorite meat, since it's lean, organic and cheap! Some of my hobbies are: hiking, biking, rock climbing, gardening, playing in the water with my kids, or just swinging in the hammock with a good book. I go stir crazy if I spend too much time inside.
